British artist David Breuer-Weil arrived in Israel this week to prepare for his debut solo exhibition in the country. The show, titled Unity, opens on November 4 at the Sheetrit & Wolf Gallery in the Neve Tzedek neighborhood of Tel Aviv.

Breuer-Weil, born in London in 1965, has established an international reputation through large-scale paintings and monumental public sculptures. He studied at Central Saint Martins and the University of Cambridge. His work is held in public institutional and private collections, and dedicated exhibitions have been hosted by Sotheby's and Christie's.

The exhibition is curated by Gregory Baker and features new paintings and sculptures that respond to recent events affecting Israel and Jewish communities globally. The collection examines the October 7 attacks, the desire for solidarity during crisis, and the emotional impact of the return of Israeli hostages.

A central component of the display is a new series called Home. This body of work was conceived and produced after the initial return of hostages. Breuer-Weil stated that he had never encountered a subject he felt a greater need to explore through sculpture, painting, and drawing.

Another featured piece is the large-scale canvas Morning. It uses hundreds of detailed images and symbols to preserve the historical memory of the October 7 attacks. A separate work, Where Shall I Go? (Ana Elech), shifts focus to British Jewish life. It considers the community's future in the context of growing insecurity and antisemitism in the United Kingdom.

The timing of the opening coincides with Breuer-Weil's recent selection to design a major memorial in the United Kingdom commemorating the events of October 7. Specific details of that memorial project have not yet been disclosed. British Ambassador to Israel Simon Walters is expected to attend the opening night of the Tel Aviv exhibition.

Unity remains on view through December 4 at 35-37 Shabazi Street. The gallery is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. During the exhibition period, the gallery will also host special screenings of The King of Nerac, a documentary covering Breuer-Weil's life, philosophy, and artistic output.
