Heidi Klum arrived at her New York City Halloween party on Saturday as a severed hand, capping a 25-year tradition of elaborate costumes. The event, held at Cathédrale Restaurant at Moxy East Village, marked the quarter-century anniversary of the gathering she has hosted since 2001. Klum arrived in a truck wrapped in red danger signs, where actors in yellow hazmat suits helped her to the ground.
The costume featured a bloody wrist with Klum’s head positioned at the center of the hand. Her fingers displayed rings and a fresh manicure. Special effects makeup designer Mike Marino, who won an Emmy for his work on The Penguin, collaborated with Klum on the design. Marino described the build as one of the most elaborate he has ever created, citing the high difficulty and complexity of the construction.
Klum had teased the transformation on Instagram throughout the day, prompting followers to guess her look. Earlier this year, she told People that the costume would be very, very bloody and that it pairs well with red wine. The party was presented by Apothic and Butterfinger.
Apothic Wines partnered with Klum for the event, releasing a limited-edition Apothic x Heidi Klum Type 'A' Blood Bag. The collectible mimics the appearance of medical blood bags and was also served as a drink at the venue. Klum has previously appeared in costumes depicting Medusa, E.T., a peacock, Fiona from Shrek, Jessica Rabbit, and a worm.
The party continues to serve as a major cultural event for the season, drawing attention for its production value and the host’s commitment to complex prosthetic work. The 25th-anniversary edition emphasized the longevity of Klum’s brand and her continued collaboration with high-profile entertainment partners.
