The Detroit Lions defeated the Minnesota Vikings 19-15 on Sunday, handing the Vikings their first loss of the season. The result ends a 14-game winning streak for Minnesota, which had been unbeaten since November 30, 2025.

The game featured a strong defensive effort by Detroit. The Lions allowed the Vikings only 81 rushing yards, a total well below Minnesota's season average of under 100 yards per game. Detroit's own rushing attack generated 230 total yards, with 164 of those yards coming in the second half.

Jared Goff completed 18 of 25 passes for 176 yards and one touchdown. He also threw his first interception of the season. The go-ahead score came with 4:35 remaining in the fourth quarter, when Goff threw a 7-yard pass to Jameson Williams. Before that play, Detroit's defense forced the Vikings to punt on fourth-and-5 from their own 33-yard line.

Jahmyr Gibbs carried the ball for 153 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Kyler Murray, the Vikings' quarterback, completed 17 of 29 passes for 210 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Justin Jefferson caught a 1-yard pass early in the second quarter to give Minnesota a 7-3 lead.

The scoring sequence shifted control of the game multiple times. Detroit kicker Jake Bates kicked a 25-yard field goal late in the first quarter to break a scoreless tie. He later added a 37-yard field goal to make the score 7-6. Minnesota took a 15-12 lead midway through the fourth quarter on an 8-yard touchdown pass from Murray to T.J. Hockenson, followed by a 2-point conversion pass to Jordan Addison.

The celebration in Detroit was subdued due to an injury to All-Pro linebacker Jack Campbell. Campbell was placed on a backboard and taken to a hospital in the fourth quarter with a neck injury after a tackle. He lay motionless face down on the turf after the hit.

"That was definitely scary," Goff said. "He’s a husband and a father." Coach Dan Campbell described the win as bittersweet given the circumstances surrounding Campbell's injury. Other Lions players who did not return after being evaluated for concussions included safety Brian Branch and edge rusher DJ Wonnum.

Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said the team had full confidence in its defense when it chose to punt on fourth down. "We still had all three timeouts and we have total trust and confidence in our defense," O’Connell said. The Vikings will host the Buffalo Bills on Monday, November 9.

Additional injuries for the Lions included center Cade Mays, kick returner Jacob Saylors, linebacker Jimmy Rolder, and cornerback D.J. Reed. For the Vikings, safety Theo Jackson suffered a quadriceps injury during the game. Detroit will play at Miami on Sunday.
