New England won 24-19.
Drake Maye threw two touchdown passes and added a rushing score for the Patriots. The team overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to secure the victory against the Dolphins.
Maye completed 16 of 20 passes for 199 yards. He did this despite star receiver AJ Brown sitting out with lingering injuries. DeMario Douglas caught a 48-yard touchdown pass early in the fourth quarter to extend the lead.
The Patriots outscored Miami 21-0 in the second half until a late rally. Malik Willis threw a 35-yard touchdown to Kevin Coleman Jr. with two minutes remaining. Miami missed a two-point conversion, and Stevenson recovered the onside kick to seal the game.
Willis completed 21 of 32 passes for 211 yards for the Dolphins. He threw two touchdowns and one interception while getting sacked five times. The Dolphins had won the previous week, marking their first victory of the season.
A key play occurred when Maye connected with Kyle Williams for a 43-yard touchdown. Officials initially ruled the catch incomplete, but coach Mike Vrabel challenged the call. Replays showed Williams crossed the goal line before losing the ball.
Ollie Gordon was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct after speaking to a defender. Coach Jeff Hafley removed the second-year running back for one play. Maye rushed for a 2-yard touchdown with 59 seconds left in the third quarter, his fifth straight game with at least three total touchdowns.
Stevenson had 19 carries for 82 yards for New England. Douglas caught three passes for 76 yards. Hunter Henry and Gabe Jacas left the game with foot and knee injuries, respectively. The Patriots will host Green Bay next Sunday, while Miami hosts Detroit.
