Two men were found dead from gunshot wounds on Moshe Dayan Road in Tel Aviv on Monday morning. According to the initial investigation, one of them allegedly shot the other and then took his own life.
The two were brothers, one in his 50s and the other in his 70s. They were found close to a senior citizens' center and the entrance to a bank branch. A handgun was found near the scene.
Magen David Adom (MDA) received a report of two injured people at the location at 9:32 a.m., through its 101 emergency call center in the Dan region. Medics and paramedics sent to the scene found both men lying in the street, unconscious, with no pulse and not breathing. After examining them, the crews had no choice but to pronounce them dead on the spot.
MDA motorcycle unit emergency medical technician Meir Grossman described what the first responders found. "We arrived at the scene quickly and saw two men lying in the street, unconscious, without a pulse and not breathing, with penetrating wounds on their bodies," he said. "We performed medical examinations and were forced to pronounce their deaths at the scene."
Police said a report about a shooting on Moshe Dayan Street, in which two people were shot dead, reached their 100 emergency hotline. Officers from the South Tel Aviv station and police investigators went to the scene and opened an investigation to establish exactly what happened. The inquiry was still under way at the time of the original report.
Residents of the area were shaken by the incident. One woman who lives nearby told Walla that the sound of gunfire first made her fear a terror attack. "I heard gunshots under the building. At first I locked the windows; I thought maybe it was a terror attack, maybe there's a terrorist downstairs, and suddenly it was quiet and full of ambulances," she said.
She said she then ran downstairs to see what had happened and found two men lying dead on the sidewalk. "There's nothing as scary as that, to see such a difficult sight first thing in the morning. My whole body is still shaking; I can't believe it," she told the outlet.
