1978. That is the year frozen in time for the new production titled Stage. The show will premiere on February 14, 2027, at Uber Arena in Berlin. It coincides with the 77th Berlin International Film Festival.
The production is a collaboration between the creative team and the David Bowie Estate. It features previously unseen footage from Bowie’s Isolar II World Tour. The material was restored using modern audiovisual technology.
Filmmaker Brett Morgen discovered the archival clips while working on his 2022 documentary, Moonage Daydream. The footage captures the singer during his Berlin era. It shows him performing music from that specific period of his career.
The show will not use a hologram. It will not use artificial intelligence to recreate the singer. Instead, the production combines large screens, transparent LED displays, surround sound, and theatrical lighting. The goal is to create an immersive performance environment.
Stage aims to bring audiences closer to the original live performances. It differs from traditional concert films in its technical setup. The experience is designed to feel immediate rather than archival.
The Berlin debut is the first stop. The experience is expected to travel internationally after that. It offers fans and new listeners a chance to see the material again.
