The Colorado Avalanche outscored the Chicago Blackhawks 5-2 on Monday night to secure their third straight win. Nazem Kadri and Jaden Schwartz each scored two goals for Denver, driving the team to a decisive victory at the United Center.

Chicago took an early 2-0 lead in the first period. Defenseman Wyatt Kaiser and rookie Roman Kantserov scored for the Blackhawks. Connor Bedard assisted on Kantserov’s goal, extending his point streak to six games. However, the Avalanche erased the deficit with two goals in 26 seconds near the end of the first frame.

Kadri poked in a loose puck on the goal line at 15:23, and Schwartz scored from the left circle just 26 seconds later at 15:49. Colorado took its first lead in the second period after Bedard was sent off for holding Kadri. Kadri then scored off a wrist shot by Cale Makar to put the Avalanche ahead. Schwartz added his second goal late in the second period, beating goalie Spencer Knight for his sixth of the season. Devon Toews scored an empty-netter with 2:22 remaining to close out the scoring.

T.J. Hughes provided two assists for the Avalanche, while goalie Mackenzie Blackwood recorded 21 saves. Colorado now has a 15-4-0 record in its last 19 games against Chicago. The Blackhawks, who dropped to 1-5-1 in their last seven games, saw forward Patrick Kane leave the game in the second period with an upper-body injury. Defenseman Bowen Byram missed his eighth straight game with a similar issue.

The Avalanche will head to Columbus to face the Blue Jackets on Tuesday night. The Blackhawks travel to Florida to play the Panthers on Wednesday night.
