The Mütter Museum in Philadelphia is holding its first Tattoo Flash Day on Nov. 22. The event runs from noon to 6 p.m. at the institution located at 19 S. 22nd St. The museum has partnered with the Frequency Tattoo studio for the occasion.
Frequency Tattoo will provide flash designs based on the Mütter Museum and its Historical Medical Library. The museum is known for its unusual medical collections. This event allows visitors to turn that inspiration into permanent body art.
Permanent tattoo slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission tickets cost $15. This price does not guarantee a tattoo appointment. Regular museum admission is separate. Visitors who plan to explore the galleries must purchase an additional ticket.
Educators will be present to discuss the history of tattooing and its connections to medicine. Attendees can view collection items related to the practice. Temporary tattoos will also be available for those who do not receive a permanent design.
Tickets are available through the museum's registration page. The event is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 22, 2026.
