The Clayton Hotel & Members Club at 233 Clayton Street in Cherry Creek has hosted 11 different food and drink concepts since it opened in 2021. The property currently houses three distinct dining operations in its main room, lobby, and rooftop lounge.

The hotel opened with Of a Kind, a restaurant serving wood-fired American food. That space later became Kini’s, which featured Greek-inspired dishes. The lobby bar has seen four different operators. Oak Market opened first, followed by Cretans, Bar Amorina, and Mar Bella Wine Bar. The building also contains a hidden lounge that originally operated as the speakeasy Five Nines. It later became Chez Roc, a venue with a Moroccan theme, before closing.

By the summer of 2026, the hotel’s public dining spaces had cycled through 11 unique brands. Management has now installed three new operations in an attempt to stabilize the menu. Johnny Curiel, a chef with a Michelin star, currently runs the main dining room under the name Alteño. He also operates Tequilería Alteño in the lobby. The tequilería is temporarily closed for renovations.

Chefs Kelly Whitaker and Taylor Stark manage a rooftop tasting menu called Sheep. Sheep began as a residency but has extended its stay through December 2026. The tequilería has also become a permanent concept after its initial period. Both operations have attracted enough customers to justify their continued presence.

The Clayton is not the only Denver address with a high turnover rate. At 1222 Madison Street in Congress Park, three restaurants closed in less than five years. TAG Burger Bar operated there until October 2021. A second version of Billy’s Inn closed in November 2022 after nine months. Crêpes ‘n Crêpes closed 14 months after opening. Briar Patch closed in September 2026, citing rising costs and insufficient business.

At 1441 26th Street in RiNo, three concepts have closed since 2019. Biju’s Little Curry Shop closed in 2019. Lea Jane’s Hot Chicken closed in 2022. Koko Ni ceased operations in late 2024. Theo Adley’s Heretík opened in May 2026 and received a Michelin recommendation four months later.

At 2403 Champa Street in Curtis Park, Liberati closed in March 2020 after 18 months. MobCraft Beer closed in April 2023 after fewer than eight months. Duets Tap & Grill opened in October 2024 and closed a year later. At 5410 East Colfax Avenue in Hale, Solera closed in 2018. Hank’s Texas Barbecue closed after two and a half years. Street Feud closed on January 1, 2023. Supreme Chicken opened in March 2024 and remains open.
