Detroit police are actively pursuing individuals responsible for a shooting that injured a five-year-old girl on Halloween night. The incident occurred on Saturday evening when gunfire entered a residence on the 5200 block of Iroquois Street on the city's west side.

Officers learned of the shooting at approximately 9 p.m. and responded to Children's Hospital, where the child's parents were waiting. During their conversation with the family, detectives identified the specific location of the event. As of Saturday night, the girl remained in stable condition.

Deputy Chief Arnold Williams of the Detroit Police Department provided details at a news conference held that same evening. He stated that the child had just finished trick-or-treating and was playing inside the home when the shots were fired into the back of the property. Williams noted that the child was wearing her Halloween costume at the time of the incident.

Williams described the event as senseless, noting that the family was celebrating the evening when the gunfire occurred. He quoted the child telling her mother, 'I think I've been shot.' The deputy chief emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that police are looking for those who fired the weapons.

The Detroit Police Department asked members of the public with information to contact the 7th Precinct at 313-596-5700. Residents may also reach Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-773-2587 to provide details regarding the shooting.
