New Jersey voters go to the polls on Tuesday, November 2, for the 2026 midterm election. The ballot includes races for U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives seats. Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m., and voters must be in line by the closing time to cast their ballot.
In the race for one of New Jersey’s Senate seats, Republican nominee Justin Murphy challenges Democratic incumbent Sen. Cory Booker. Booker first took office in 2013. Murphy is a Navy veteran and former deputy mayor of Tabernacle. He won the June primary, defeating physician and surgeon Robert Lebovics, Army veteran and state trooper Richard Tabor, and political reporter Alex Zdan. Booker ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.
Two other candidates appear on the Senate ballot through nomination by petition. Joanne Kuniansky represents the Socialist Workers Party, and Veronica Fernandez represents the End the Corruption! Party.
Voters also decide races for county commissioner and other county offices. The state’s Department of Elections offers a district lookup tool on its website. Voters can enter their address to find their Senate, congressional, and election districts. The same site provides sample ballots for voters in South Jersey, organized by county.
The 2026 midterm election takes place on a Tuesday, with voting hours set by state law. The federal races on the ballot include all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 35 seats in the U.S. Senate, though New Jersey only holds one of the contested Senate seats in this cycle. Local offices such as county commissioner are also up for election across the state.
